Two weeks ago La Conexion presented Suite Habana a Cuban film that followed the lives of several young people completely without narration. This weeks we are pleased to announce Sin Nombre a Mexican/American film that deals with both gang violence as well as illegal immigration.
A short synopsis: A gang member kills his own gang leader after he tried to rape a Honduran girl traveling from her native Honduras to the United States to find a better life. Realizing he can never go back to his gang he slowly becomes friends with the very girl he saved. However, his younger brother, newly initiated into the gang and wanting to prove his loyalty, volunteers for the task of tracking his own brother down.
This film is a heartrending account of the daily perils many immigrants face as they try to find their ways to better lives, as well as the lives of gang members. A major theme in the film is that of family. The film is Rated R.
